Castle of Pont Chevron

A mirror studded with water lilies
For a beautiful classic home.
The castle of Pont-Chevron is located between the Puisaye and the Gâtinais, 10 km from Gien and 4 km from Briare.
In the Middle Ages, there was a fortified castle on an island in the pond, of which only a few foundations remain. This island was connected to the land by a bridge… which gave its name to the domain. Chevron was the name of the owner at the time: which makes Pont-Chevron.

The castle is a pleasant place to visit, but the exterior gives the visitor a peaceful and romantic feeling. On the north side, admire this immense green carpet and this long perspective that ends with a 27-hectare pond…studded with water lilies and surrounded by the forest. On either side are lawns planted with boxwoods cut into balls and decorated with numerous sculptural motifs and stone benches, all framed by bower trees cut into the shape of an arch, which creates a new perspective on the pond.

You will also admire the French garden extending on both sides of the castle, the lime trees trimmed in curtain, the vegetable garden surrounded by walls and hedges of boxwood trimmed forming the squares.

The Gallo-Roman mosaics (2nd century AD).
It is one of the most beautiful discoveries made in the center of France. These mosaics are exhibited in a room of the castle’s outbuildings.
