Briare, also called the city of enamels, is located in the Loiret region, near Gien, Orléans and Montargis.
The Briare bridge-canal is an essential part of the city, one of the most beautiful works of art in the region and a jewel of French river heritage. Built from 1890 to 1896, it spans the Loire River and provides a link between the Canal Latéral à la Loire and the Canal de Briare. Walk along and admire this great avenue of water over 600 meters long, lined with imposing lampposts and beautiful pilasters decorated with coats of arms at each end.

You can reach Gien by bike from Briare, the 2 cities are separated by about ten kilometers. Gien is known for being an important place for earthenware, renowned throughout the world. The faience museum in the heart of the city offers both a historical and thematic presentation that allows visitors to admire the excellence of this know-how.
The other attraction of the town is its renaissance castle that you will see from the left bank of the Loire. Built in 1482 on the site of an old medieval fortress, it houses the Hunting Museum. Don’t miss the superb view of Gien and the Loire from the terrace.
Between Gien and Briare, make a stop at the castle of Saint-Brisson, classified as a historical monument. It offers original and fun tours in the form of escape games, workshops, mystery tours, etc.
